Dirty Thirty

I  am: 30 weeks. Next week starts the single digit weekly countdown. We're getting close

Baby is the size of a(n): cucumber.

I've gained: 3 more pounds, based on my home scale. I said that last time and I ended up gaining 6 pounds in one month. I have an appointment Friday, so we'll see. And then after that, I go every 2 weeks.

Maternity Clothes: Yep!

My mood: is tired!! And I think I'm nesting.

Gender: baby GIRL, Avery Laiken Gibbs!

Cravings: water, water, water.

What I'm missing: chicken. I haven't been able to eat it at all this entire pregnancy. I love chicken. I always try different recipes, but no matter what, I just can't do it.

Highlights/ Exciting moments: We've pretty much completely finished the nursery. Mom came this past weekend and we had a major shopping spree! Little Avery is spoiled that is for sure, but so is her mom so why should I expect anything different?

Here I am this morning at 30 weeks. Getting big!

And here I am in the same shirt five weeks ago at 25 weeks. I can definitely see the difference here. I wonder what the four week comparison will look in two more weeks.

Avery's room

We've made a lot of progress on the nursery the past week. My mom came Thursday and her and Darrell got all of the furniture upstairs and put in place. I was a little nervous that we made the wrong choice giving her the smaller of the extra rooms after seeing how big the furniture was. But once we got everything de-cluttered and put in place, I think it's fine.

The outside view from the hall.

To the right of the door, the changer and closet.

An up close of the mirror above the changer. I love this mirror so much. Darrell and I found it at an estate sale at least 2-3 years ago and I fell in love with it. I visioned it in a little girl's nursery, but knew that might not happen.  I insisted on lugging this thing around with us, move to move, house to house, and we're finally using it!

Just a little up close detail on the changer. We changed out the plain white knobs that came with it and upgraded with these antique looking ones from Hobby Lobby.

The opposite wall. The picture to the left is a picture Darrell found at an estate sale. He thinks it's perfect because it's a little swinging on a tree. Not really my style, but I can live with a little bit of "daddy" touch on the room.  The other two were cheap canvas from Hobby Lobby that I thought matched the little animals that kind of accidently became a theme and added some color.

Aaah, her crib. I love love love this crib. And the bottom is a drawer that I'm planning on using for extra sheets.

Her sweet little mobile.  After Darrell turned it on he played the song and I teared up a little.

The other wall.  Her tall dresser is missing most of the knobs that match the changer, but they've been ordered and should be here next week.  Again, the print my cousin ordered her and another owl statue. This one isn't so "baby", but again, Darrell picked it out and I don't want to override everything he likes.

Her closet! This little girl has a ton of clothes already. These are only newborn, 0-3, and 3 month clothes, plus some in the closet.  Plus two plastic storage bins of bigger sizes.

We also picked up a white wooden glider and ottoman at Kids Exchange Friday for a steal. The cushions were blue and white striped and pretty filthy, but we're going to have them dry cleaned and my aunt is going to reupholster them. Now, just to find a place for a glider. I'm thinking in front of the window, but we'll have to see how far it sticks out. We could always slide the crib to the wall and put in the corner, but that wouldn't be centered and I just don't know if I can live with it that way.

29 weeks

I  am: 29 weeks... and feeling it.

Baby is the size of a(n): acorn squash. Is that the same as a regular squash?

I've gained: I haven't weighed this week, I'm over it. I feel good, Avery is healthy, that's all I care about. I have an appointment next Friday so I'll know then.

Maternity Clothes: Mostly. I still have a pair of skinny jeans I can wear if I rubber band the button and a few non maternity tops that are strechy enough.

My mood: still very impatient and tired.

Gender: baby GIRL, Avery Laiken Gibbs!

Cravings: dairy and water this week. I haven't really wanted too many sweets but I'm sure that'll come back.

What I'm missing: my body. The simplest things so difficult now.. changing the laundry from the washer to the dryer is so hard. And so is anything else that requires bending over.

Highlights/ Exciting moments: I had my family shower on Saturday. Avery got so many great gifts, and I even got a few pampering items for myself.  I forgot my camera that day so I'm hoping to get the pictures from mom soon. She's visiting this weekend which I'm pretty excited about too!

I got the call today that her furniture is ready to be picked up, but we won't be able to get it until tomorrow. Which is fine, because her room is in shambles. I've been trying to organize and just ended up making a bigger mess. I'm hoping to get that stuff done tonight so we can get the furniture tomorrow. Darrell will set it up Friday and mom and I will get everything put together Friday night!

And the best news of all, we had our follow-up growth ultrasound this past Friday. Avery is growing and looks great! She is up to about 2lb, 12oz. which is a huge growth from 1lb, 8oz. in four weeks (or at least it seems like it to me).  Everything else was measuring right on track. We even got to see her lungs "breathing" in and out.  Little miss was being stubborn and had her arm and hand over her face the entire time.  The ultrasound tech had me turn on my side, she just wasn't having it. She is still breech, but she still has some time to turn.  The only concern there is that she is sitting so low. She is basically between my hips with her legs going every which way she chooses.  Everyone talks about rib kicks, but I have no idea what those feel like. I have vagina kicks, and they don't feel good.

From what we could see, Avery still looks like her daddy, but has my long legs..

I am still so in love with her little mouth!

...and she is apparently ready for the papparazzi! The ultrasound tech typed 'Hi Mom & Dad' to be nice, but I'm pretty sure that's not what she is saying.  If you look closely, you can see behind her hand is her face and she is making quite the pouty face.

Complaints: Same as last week... I'm tired, I pee all the freaking time, and I still have heartburn. And even though I do always have something to complain about, I must say, pregnancy has been nice to me overall!

Wedding ring: Still on!

And here we are from this morning. This is one of those non-maternity shirts. Hmm, not too flattering, maybe I should just put these away...

Seven months

I  am: 28 weeks, just stepping into the 7th month.

Baby is the size of a(n): eggplant.

I've gained: No official count this week. I'm still going with 13 from the last visit and I haven't been on the scale at home. I was a little freaked out and disappointed about the six pounds in one month, so I've been trying to do better, I just can't say no to sweets.

Maternity Clothes: Yes! I've been wanting some new ones for showers and pictures, etc.  I was going through my closet today and found a whole box of clothes we got early on!!

My mood: still very impatient and tired.

Gender: baby GIRL!!! And it's official, her name will be Avery Laiken Gibbs.

Cravings: dairy and sweets still

What I'm missing: the honeymoon of the second trimester. I'm tired all the time and waking up to pee in the middle of the night again.

Highlights/ Exciting moments: She is moving a ton. We have another ultrasound with MFM Friday to check her growth. It sure feels like she is grown!

Complaints: Pretty much everything I said early on... I'm tired, I pee all the freaking time, and I still have heartburn.

Wedding ring: Still on!

Another four weeks has passed so here is the newest comparison picture!

Hello 3rd trimester!

I  am: 27 weeks, which means...3rd trimester! We're in the home stretch. Only 13 more weeks, give or take, until we meet our baby girl. Hopefully not much longer that that.

Baby is the size of a(n): rutabaga. I'm not even sure I know what that is.

I've gained: 13 pounds..which means I gained 6 pounds last month, oops. My doctor said she wasn't going to give me a hard time because before that I had only gained 8 total and 13 at 27 weeks wasn't bad, but 6 in one month..eeh. Her goal (and mine) is one pound per week.  Blame the Girl Scouts and their cookies.

Maternity Clothes: Yep! Mom took me shopping and got a bunch of stuff early on so that when it was time, I'd have them. We got mostly winter stuff so I've been looking around for spring and summer things, but there just isn't much that I love. There's stuff I like, but I don't want to spend a bunch of money on clothes I'll only wear for a few more months.

My mood: has still been pretty short tempered, but I'm feeling good today. I'm starting to get tired again.

Gender: baby GIRL!!! And it's official, her name will be Avery Laiken Gibbs.

Cravings: milk and sweets still

What I'm missing: working out lately. I've been really motivated in my head, but by the end of the day I'm exhausted. I haven't worked out since a few weeks after finding out I was pregnant; mostly because of the exhaustion in the first trimester and then I wasn't allowed to because of my stupid placenta. It sounds like a nice idea but working out for the first time in three months, 13 pounds heavier, doesn't seem easy...ugh. Maybe I'll look for some home DVDs or something, although I am still paying for a gym membership.

Highlights/ Exciting moments: We had an OB checkup Friday, everything was great. I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing her sweet heartbeat.  I had to do my glucose test which was a complete suprise to me, but I passed. We have one more monthly appointment at the end of March, and then we go every two weeks. Which will basically be two times in April then it's every week in May. Holy moly, we're getting really close.

The nursery furniture is supposed to be here this week... we'll see. I'm ready for it to get here and get her room all set up! And in other decorating news, not baby related, I settled on and ordered the rug for my dining room!

We also took a childbirth class Saturday. Not sure if it was exciting, it was kinda scary actually. I'm all about being prepared and educated, but it was a little much at times. I know they tell  you everything that could possibly happen and most of it is worst case scenarios. I just hadn't even been thinking about the actual labor part of it and I don't want those anxious feelings on my mind.  The best part was getting to tour the labor and delivery unit. The hospital here has a brand new (well 2-3 years old) women and children's hospital so everything is brand new and really  nice.

Complaints: Typical stuff I guess.. heartburn and getting a little uncomfortable when I'm in one position too long.  I've had a few calf cramps that have woken me up in the middle of the night and they hurt like hell.  I'm told they're normal, I just don't hope they don't become more frequent.

Wedding ring: Still on!

Here's the 3rd trimester bump. I feel like my face is starting to show my wieght gain.
